Competition Rules.

 

 

  1. The number of competitions and dates will be determined by the committee.

 

  1. Each competition will comprise two classes:-1) colour prints; 2) black and white prints.

 

  1. The maximum number of entries is to be 2 in any one class.  Entries may be submitted in more than one class.

 

  1. No print may be entered more than once in the same class in club competitions. Prints may be re-entered in the Photographer of the Year competition.

 

  1. Prints must have been produced in the last five years.

 

  1. Digitally enhanced prints may be entered provided that the original from which the image has been derived is the sole work of the member in question and have started life in a camera.

 

  1. Either trade or home processed prints may be submitted.

 

  1. All prints should be A4 size. They should be mounted and the mount should be no larger than 20x16

 

  1. Members must provide a title for their entries.

 

  1. The method of judging the competitions will be decided by the committee.

 

  1. For the ‘Photographer of the Year’ competition all prints must be A4, mounted (mounts no larger than 20X16) and titled.

 

 

NB. To follow RPS guidelines, a colour print is defined as any print showing more than one extra colour.  A black and white print with the addition of say some red colouring would be defined as a monochrome print but if say red and yellow were added, then it would be defined as a colour print.

Digital Competition rules.

 

1.              Images to the competition must have originated from one or more sources involving the use of light and a lens. Digital images may be produced from the following sources:- film cameras, digital cameras, film or print scanners.

  1. Entries will consist of images with minimal manipulation or images with extensive manipulation and creativity applied. The subject matter is entirely open. Images may contain additional material produced by the photographer.

2.               Members may not submit more than two entries.

3.               Images will be projected through a digital projector.

  1. Images may be a maximum size of either the XGA or SXGA standard (i.e.1024 x 768 or 1280 x 1024 pixels). This will ensure that an image will be viewed correctly at 100% magnification without the need for software or hardware compression.
  2. Images may be smaller than this if required, but they should be of a reasonable size for viewing by ensuring at least one dimension of the image meets the XGA or SXGA standard defined above.
  3. Images should be saved as Joint Photographic Experts Group (JPEG) in order to be able to be displayed on any computer and any operating system version without the need for software like Photoshop to be present.
  4. Images must use the colour space or SRGB. This should minimize any colour shift caused by using a program which does not manage colour spaces.

4.               Images should consist entirely of the work of the author.

5.               Images entered must not have previously appeared in club competitions before.

6.               Each category will be judged on its own merits.

7.               Digital manipulation must be carried out by the member.

8.               Images may be submitted on CD’s or USB drives and supplied by the agreed date before the competition.

The committee will determine the method of judging.

Rules for the Axholme Camera Club Audio Visual competition.

 

  1. All the pictures/images shown should be the work of the member submitting the entry. Images do NOT have to be taken with a camera but can be digitally created images using such programmes as Bryce 5.
  2. The AV should be no more than 4 minutes in length including titles.
  3. In preparing their presentations members should to pay particular attention to the following:-
    1. The quality of the images;
    2. The overall presentation of the images, including transitions, titles etc;
    3.  The fitting of the music to the overall theme of the presentation and to individual images;
    4. The entertainment value and originality of the presentation.

 

  1. AV’s should be produced on CD or USB memory drives so that they will play on the club’s computer. Individual slides (images) in the shows should be sized 1024x768 so that they will run smoothly.
  2.  Members may submit no more than one presentation for each competition.
  3. Presentations should not identify the author so that they can be judged anonymously.

Entries must be handed in on CD or USB drive one week before the competition.

  1. Method of judging will be decided by the committee.
